Welcome to Muse 54! This is a project I've envisioned for a while, and after years of contemplation, I'm excited to finally launch it.
I'm Cheriece Hylton, a Great Britain Track and Field Athlete and an avid tech enthusiast. To bring you up to speed, an ankle injury in 2019 paused my athletics career, and 2021, I pivoted into tech working across 5G, AI, Digital, and Customer Journey. After speaking with industry experts and digging into the history of STEM, one thing became clear; women and ethnic minorities - especially those from the pan-African diaspora - have been consistently excluded from the narrative. So when the opportunity to join Samsung UK's Black Professionals Employee Resource Group (ERG) came up, I was eager to join to say the least.
In February 2023, I became the Co-Chair of the ERG and it was here where I developed a huge passion for storytelling - especially working at the intersection of tech, culture, and inclusivity. Now, in 2025, after investing countless hours of passion into our ERG, I have decided to take a leap of faith and launch my own labour of love - Muse 54.
Muse 54 is a cultural content hub that celebrates past and present trailblazers from the pan-African diaspora and their contributions to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM). Fusing cultural storytelling with insights from industry experts, we aim to rebalance history and reimagine the future by centring pan-African voices in STEAM. Innovation thrives on diverse thoughts and perspectives, and we create a better world because of it!
Venturing into journalism is a new experience for me but this passion project has been calling me for a long time - so, if you're sticking around, I hope you enjoy the ride.
